It sounds like running a 1/2" spacer between the stock inner rim and the offset outer rim will keep you within the 96" limit. Is that correct? Yes, you only have 9/16" between tires, but I think that will be safe to run. The only way to know for sure is mount the tires, load the truck and check if the tires are touching.
