Best picture in the series I think. As to cranks, it is not uncommon to have the main journals turned one size and the rod journals another. A good machinist will take off the least amount possible. But there are cases where they machine to the bearings on hand. In my younger days I used to run across factory blocks with special codes stamped in to warn you the bearings were not a stock size. X or XX or XXX long ago and far away enough that I forget the details. But I do remember tearing into a block and every conrod was marked 1 .
