1/2 Ton Dodge Classification Question

So I was reading the article on Legacy Power Wagons last night and a question came to mind: If the "C" in WC stands for 3/4 ton, and the "D" in WDX stands for 1 ton, why wasn't the 1/2 ton Dodge called a WB, rather than a WC?
