You can think of it this way the radiator is way bigger then the heater and it only keeps water from boiling in the engine when working right. You may need to use larger hose for more flow and a full port valve to not restrict it. I would think having them in series would be the best cause in parallel the most flow will go thru the easiest path not the farthest away one. Thinking out loud.
