'51 FFPW Trans, Spacer?

I have my '51 4 speed non-sinchro transmission back together but during the reassembly I found an extra part. It appears to be a spacer but I can not find a reference to it in the parts manual. It is about 1 inch tall and about 1 1/4 inch ID.

Any help would be appreciated.
