Nope, didn't know that. Good idea, though. I know in my grandpa's day the buckers always kept a bottle of kerosene handy (usually with a wire loop tied around the top so they could hang it from something) to squirt on the 2-man crosscut saws they used to use. With a big Stihl, it's tempting to just apply more power and burn your way through despite pitch and dull teeth, but when your arms are providing the power, you want those teeth razor sharp, the sides of blade smooth and shiny, and no pitch gumming it up. He told me how sometimes they'd cut into a pitch pocket in one of those big old-growth coast doug firs and gallons of pitch would come running out. One old pioneer wrote of "nigh a hogshead" of pitch flowing out of a big tree when he started to cut it.
