I have more and more appreciation for 6-point wrenches and sockets as the years go by. Very rarely does one need that extra 30 deg of positioning, very often does the 12-point wrench slip and ruin the 6-point nut or bolt. When loosening long-rusted brake bleed screws I usually use a 6-point socket, sometimes even a 9 mm metric one that has a slightly tighter grip on a 7/16 bleed screw than a 7/16 socket. But now I'm looking at a bleed screw that's only 1" from the spring pack, there's no way to get a socket on it, and all I have in the way of end wrenches are 12 point. I'll probably try the open end but I really hate buggering up brake screws to where I have to put vise-grips on them to get them out. Just got me pondering why there aren't 6-point box wrenches.
