I hesitate to mention it but a bar of soap?
1. Acts as a thread lubricant
2. Can be used to seal gas tank holes.
stop yelling OK. I had a rent a wreck in Utah
many years ago and on the way up the mountain a rock was spun under the car by an opposite direction semi. It banged and crashed around underneath the car a bit, then we left it behind. I pulled over and took a look. A trickle of gas was running from the tank right at a shinny place where the rock had scraped then dug in. Not wanting to loose the day and go get it fixed, I grabed a bar of soap and rubbed it vigoursly on the site of the leak. The soap mixed with the gas and congealed into a patch. It worked all week.I guess the old farmer I threw hay for one summer knew what he was talking about (again).
