You'll get the most bang for your buck with the following:
1) PTO on transmission like you're going to run a PTO winch.
2) Try to get a rear outlet PTO, either by adding drive flange if a shaft sticks out of the PTO to the rear, or else by flipping the insides of the PTO around. this works with standard Chelsea and Muncie PTOs on most transmissions; it may not work with a Power Wagon PTO
3) Use a "tractor PTO pump", which has a high output of 11 gpm at 540 rpm and 20 gpm at 1000 rpm.
This system will be FAR superior to either a belt driven system or especially an electric pump. A winch locomotes the truck thru the mud. Imagine your truck depending on one rubber belt for locomotion as opposed to a set of sturdy gears, with hydraulic oil for coupling.
