I would think running a splitter off a PW engine (maybe using a power steeering pump?) with the engine operating slightly higher than idle is considerably less noisy than a Briggs & Stratten spinning at 3600RPM (gas powered log splitter). Can a PS pump provide enough pressure to drive a splitter or lift gate ram? I want to be able to hear each other while working which rules out the B&S in my mind. Now to search out the best pump/motor/valves(electric?) combo.... plumb the hose & fittings to the front & rear, and go from there. We are having fun now!
