If you are sandblasting with it, use sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). This is much gentler on the sheet metal than most grits and the residue washes off easily. Arm and Hammer and FMC both make this stuff in the Green River, Wyoming area. Sodium carbonate decahydrate is a form of soda ash (sodium carbonate) that is simply combined with 10 molecules of water.
