In 2010 I bought my W600 from Colorado. It had a valid Colorado registration, title & he typed me up a bill of sale.... Step 1 was to get insurance. Step 2 was to get an inspection sticker (they still inspect but don't do stickers as of 2015). Step 3 was get a title, with meant paying a tax on the sale. Mine was based upon Bill of Sale, new vehicles bought from a individual (not licensed dealer) have tax based on a percentage of the presumptive value (a book value). Step 4 was registering it, price based upon GVW & varies by county.
You can register as an antique (older than 24 yrs) and after the initial inspection are exempt from future ones, Antique plates are good for 5 yrs. But you are limited to how much you can drive it.
