Yep that's the way it goes. We forget or file information so deep that it does not come back very easy.
I do love Google. I use it all the time for car repairs and etc. Just yesterday I worked on the blower fan in my daughters car. I did all the basics diagnostics looking at fuses and etc and all was well. Then I went to Google and saw that the blower motor resistor failed on her car. It showed the resistors location and how to test it and replace the fuse that is in the module for less than $1. Simple job when I knew what was wrong. What I also learned is that it most likely failed due to plugged cabin air filters. They caused low air flow which caused the blower to work harder which increased the current flow across the fuse which caused it to heat up and fail. Her cabin filters were really badly plugged with dirt from living in the desert then living on a dusty dirt road more recently.
It is amazing what information you can find. You may have to weed through some junk to get there but it is often there.
