personally it would finish off the truck. Around here flatbeds are what happens when the old box has rusted away and the owner can not afford a new one. Kind of like putting plastic siding on your house instead of wood or a quality cement board.
I respect your opinion and hard work that has gone into the truck. I may be wrong but I think you would be pretty glad you made the decision once the box was done.
