No I made sure it was dry, but had a bear of a time getting it on, so I'm not sure I didn't damage it during installation. I ended up damaging the front cover seal the first time I tried to install it.

I'll also need to check the crank end and make sure the sealing surface was smooth.

There's a guy on e-bay that has a more conventional style lip seal available to replace the Cummins style, tempted to try that as a replacement.
