I have to bury another old friend today. 12 years ago I rescued the white dog on the left in the middle of a blizzard. He had been severely abused by a former owner, and consequently was more like a cat than a dog. I never had as much affection for him as I have my other dogs, especially the yellow lab on the left (who died 3 years ago). It took me months to be able to talk about the loss of that dog. But he was still a companion of sorts for 12 years, and that in itself will make my wife and me miss him. Anyway, I am 73 now land have buried 7 dogs now. A friend once said "life is a series of dogs". I have found that every one of them takes a part of you with them but leaves much more behind with you in the form of fond memories.
