All the cylinders are inclined up at least a little. We already have pressure lubrication of the crank and cam bearings. Oiling the rings shouldn't be any harder than in a horizontally opposed engine like a Cat pony motor or a modern Subaru. If there's an issue, they could have some oil squirter holes in the upper crank bearings or something to direct more oil in the direction of the pistons. They mention that a later improvement was to go to a single water pump for the whole system. They must have had to do a single oil pump too, but it's not mentioned. As they said, the blocks are not stock 230 blocks, so there could be various other modifications such as the oil passages.
