Unfortunately when there's more of them than us, all we can do is move, like the indians managed to do for a while. For now there's still some places that are safe from yuppie busybodies. I have a place in N Idaho I'm gradually moving to that I think will be safe for a while. Except in CoeurD'Alene (yuppies and sprawl) and Sandpoint (yuppies and Californians) land is relatively cheap and beautiful, nobody cares what you have on your land so long as you pay the taxes, and you can drink out of the creeks. Shoshone County has 14,000 people (declining yearly) on 2600 sq miles, nice land is $1000/acre and houses in town can be gotten for $20,000. Best of all the yuppies are scared to move there because 1) they think everybody's a neo-nazi skinhead and 2) they think it's all polluted with lead from having been a mining district. The funniest thing I saw was when a movie crew from LA came up to make a movie in Wallace and they brought truckloads of their own bottled water with them! Any creek that comes down any hillside there is better than LA water but they were scared of lead. The only government problems are from the EPA and the Forest Circus, but if you can lay low from them all the county wants is your taxes and the only reason they want you to get a building permit is that they need the money. I got a permit after somebody ratted on me to the building inspector, and even then all he wanted to do was sell me the permit; never even came and looked at the building. The downside is there's no jobs now that the last mine has shut down, but as long as you're going to be poor you might as well do it in a place where you don't get hassled for it. Lots of powerwagons out in those hills too.
