Don Beckwith has a 6BTA in his M37. He moved the radiator way forward. He also has swapped out the axles. From my experience, getting in touch with Ken See is the best way to learn what Don has done (I don't think Don is actually on the internet himself).

I have a 4BT in a '53 M37. It is a tight fit. I'm using an electric fan between the Cummins and the radiator. I have a Ranger OD (seven inches long)between the bellhousing and the stock transmission. I am using stock axles with 4.89 gears and Lockrites. Tires currently are 900x16 Grip Spurs.

I added a leaf to the front springs and had the arch tweaked at a local heavy truck shop. I also have two inch blocks between the springs and the front axle.

The aftercooler (both versions) on a 4BT adds twenty horses (4BTA is rated 125, my 4BT is rated 105).

If I was starting over, I would likely use the ZFS6-650, a NV4600, or a "little" Eaton six speed.
