Hi, Clint;
You are correct, the engines I listed were based on car use. As far as I know, the 241, 259, 270, and 315 were used as both hemis and polys in the smaller Dodge trucks, probably up to about 2 or 2 1/2 ton or so. The 331 and 354 were for the larger trucks. This info comes from the '55 to '66 Motor's Truck Repair Manual and personal knowledge. The 241 was probably used only in '54. There is no mention of either the 325, any of the DeSoto engines, or the 392 being installed in trucks from the factory, although a junk yard operator near me used to have a big '56 Dodge wrecker with a 392 out of a Chrysler or Imperial. As I recall, he had to go to a double disc clutch with floater plate to hold it when pulling hard!
The book shows the 318 coming in '59 and the 361 and 413 being available in '60. The last 2, of course, being the B and RB models, respectively, not hemis.
As far as high or low decks, the 315 is a high deck compared to the 241, 259. and 270. The 331 and 354 are low decks compared to the 392. hope this is helpful or at least informative.
