In BC, we cut old growth, second and third growth and export it to the US and China or Japan. The foreign owners closed most of the mills, so they could send it out. Out front of my place, where a large mill once stood, there are barges loading raw logs for the US and ships loading our forests for China and Japan. Once upon a time, it was lumber or finished products. How times change...
