The rubber isolation is there to stop engine vibrations from being transmitted to the frame, and thus throughout the entire truck. It also allows engine movement to take place without breaking solid bolts.
By tieing the top and bottom plate together, you defeat the isolation. I have never seen a PW with a broken front motor mount.
