Off Topic: Toyota Landcruiser, prime mover of the third worl

I know that this is off topic, but given as our truck, the Power Wagon, really got its start as a military vehicle, and this topic is on a (at least sort of) military vehicle, here goes.

I can't help but notice that Toyota Landcruisers (or whatever Toyota calls them now) show up in darned near every irregular or third world conflict going. This past week, I saw some news footage of a Landcruiser with no top being used for a plat form for a multitube rocket launcher. It was being used by the Iraqi army and looked nearly new, some model that isn't offered here.

Do they have a military marketing department or something or is their product just really good?
