Vaughn Picture of piston stop/chamber

Vaughn here is a picture of where the old pistons stopped in the cylinder. Not much explosion area for fuel? I will post a close up of the head chamber which is milled .010 next. This is where the stroke ends in this engine. So about 1/4" in the cylinder and the head area space?
