Zenith fuel filter used on WCs and early M37 as well as many other MVs. has a stack of cleanable brass or aluminum wafers inside as filter. they work great as a water separator as well. it would have to fill up to the inlet/outlet line with water before engine would die. I have pulled them packed with rust flakes and water off of running trucks a couple times. I love that style of filter.
