When I bought my power wagon over three years ago the previous owner said he struggled to stop the coolant leaks, and mentioned that in hot weather it ran warm. When I got it, I put a new water distribution tube in the radiator, cleaned it to the best of my ability and did a flow test on the radiator. It still ran about 200 degrees in the heat of the summer, but as part of my engine rebuild project I brought the radiator to be checked out to the local radiator shop. It looks like the previous owner shoved newspapers down the radiator to stop the leaks. My solution was to put the right gasket on the water pump and replace the head gasket...
Anyway, So far on the rebuilt we've fixed a big radiator problem and with will at least replace the cracked crankshaft.
