I still have to do this on my trucks so the instructions you listed are great.
I have not done this style before but,
I had a ford 460 that loved to spit plugs.
i fought with it for a long time and finally solved the issue by:
1. cleaning the block with emery cloth so it was smooth and clean.
2. covered the surface of the block and the plug with loctite anaerobic thread sealer. 3. when i drove the plug in i made sure it was square and even, then looked to see if there were any scratches or gaps, if not the plug held tight.
The key was the sealer, it made a world of difference.
