When did Dodge trucks go to 12 volts?

The dodge trucks in general, not the FFPW.

Has anybody tried connecting a new capillary tube and bulb to an old FFPW temperature gauge.

I have read the instructions provided on the web, but the procedure seems like a pretty low percentage fix. Anybody had luck doing this?
