Started on bell housing inspection / repair over the past few days.
1961 ffpw... np 420 trans
Found the clutch pedal bushings and shaft to be a bit worn.
Found TO bearing to be shot
Looking at vpw parts page I appeare to be missing.
Clutch housing seal plate
Dust seal plate
And TO bearing return spring
Questions
Wear on clutch shaft and bushing doesn't affect travel now. Is this a repair that needs to be made before final assembly..... In that the play is noticible with a running engine. Or is this repair to only prevent binding of the linkage. ( and can wait)
Any one have a napa part number or similar for TO bearing?
What is the risk of damage to operate without seal plate dust cover
Any one have an exploded view of clutch / bell hosing assembly to see if I'm missing any other parts.... I can't figure out we're TO bearing return spring would go or if it's required for proper function.
Thanks
