Sand blasting to me has become one of those things like drywall that it's worth paying for. The time, energy, and equipment needed to DIY, is not usually worth the cost of having a pro do it.
The local place I used to blast with too cheap for me to want to mess with it myself for anything that doesn't fit in the cabinet, and even for larger batches of stuff that does. They know their job and are friendly to work with. Might be worth checking around.
