Sanding metal Question?

What grit should I use to start and finish sheet metal with? Will the primer hide all the little scratches from sanding? Right now the metal is super smooth to touch with 150 grit but you can see patterns in the metal surface. New to body work on the fenders. No cancer or rust other than surface plus no dents. There are a few small metal marks not mirror finish so do you leave these or bondo them gone? After 70 years do you leave some hard earned dings or try to finish all of them out?
