My house, when I bought, had one #12 BX circuit for the entire house. Built 1921. It also had a fused neutral. Needless to say, it had 30 amp. fuses installed instead of 20's, with a penny under under the neutral that was a previously 'blown' fuse. I guess that made it safer. LOL.
I've also seen a three phase condensate pump with a fused disconnect that had three pieces of 1/2" copper tubing in place of the cartridge fuses. As I said in my previous post..."as long as it works".
