Ok, I have aligned the cab as best as I could. I installed the floor boards and running boards. To my eye, the gaps all look even and definitely within the tolerances of 1955. :) The cab is not touching the frame anywhere except for the mounts and sits level.

All the bolt holes lined up in the floor boards and the gaps around the shift tower are even with the exception of the damage to the hole. The E-brake and 4WD handles line up with the slots. Windshield lines up, as well as the back window (even gap all the way around). Gap between cab and running boards is the same both sides and the same front to rear with the exception of a slight warp in the passenger side running board by the rear of the cab.

There doesn't seem to be any twist to the cab that I can discern. I put a large square on the door frame and bottom of dash (both sides) and the dash is square to the door frames.

However, the steering shaft is still off to the right by 1.2 to 2 inches! I verified that the mounting flange of the steering box is parallel to the shaft.

I don't get it, what am I missing???? I don't understand how everything else could line up and the steering shaft be off by that much?
