In 1901, Ransom Olds hired the Dodge brothers to build 2,000 motors for the Olds curved dash car. This led to Henry Ford buying parts from the Dodge brothers in 1902.
In recent times there was a similar case where Chrysler Corporation affiliate Dana/Spicer furnished the running gear for Chev/GMC competitors Blazer /Jimmy.
