Been years since I saw Bullit, at the time I thought they dubbed in lots more shifting noise than reality dictated, but some full racer manuals are non-synchro , just clutch it and slam it REALLY hard ! Maybe it was a Shelby option? Maybe McQueen thought he was driving a Husqvarna? (non-synchro, but under cut 'cogs' so they won't pop out of gear under load)
