Another diesel question

My local diesel mechanic recommended looking for a mercedes diesel instead of a 4bt. He said I would be much happier. Not familiar with any of them. Also for Charlie, when you say the sixes wont fit is that without moving transfer case locat1on or just overall engine bay size. Thanks guys
