I have a Lincoln 255 Powermig. I have welded for years on heavy stock, never had a problem. For Sheet Metal, I switched to .023
wire/stinger/feed rollers/etc. Using Stargon Shielding Gas.
Lincold suggests as a starting point 16 volts at 160 ipm. I am welding shut drilled holes in the cab. I am usind steel backing plates. I can not hold an arc at the suggested settings. If I raise settings a little for a stable arc, I burn thru immediatelly. Go lower and just get spatter.
Any suggestions what may be wrong. This sheet metal brought me to my knees.
