Diff. in early vs late model 251eng.

The parts house showed the 33-54 and 54-58,60-68 251 as having diff.# for the gasket sets. There was a couple other items that showed a diff. # in year groups. Does anyone know what changes might had been made, or if any ,changes or drawbacks that would make the early 251 undesirable to use in a PWs? Thanks
