Being a Land Surveyor, I don't know how many times I have been looking for property corners behind the sidewalk and had people come UNGLUED because I am diggin in their yard (We do our best to take a nice deep and clean plug so we can put it back without killing the grass) then they explain to me that the property corner is out by the street and they KNOW it and now I am getting accused of "stealing" property from them. It gets even more exciting when working in questionable areas say in Kansas City and a fella with a hoody and pistol shaped heavy object in the front pocket comes out to "inquire" about your activities.
As far as trees go, its even better when a tree falls from the street right of way onto your house....suddenly the city changes the jurisdictional opinion....
