Speedometer without metal pointer?

Hi all,

My speedometer, with the melted pointer/disk, doesn't appear that it ever had a metal ring with the pointer. It appears that the pointer was a white triangle painted on the disk. No other parts inside the glass.

Was this type of speedo found on 1/2t WCs or does it indicate that might be from something different? Everything that I have seen shows the chrome ring around the clear disk.

Just curious.
