No synchros in this -- just really big straight-cut gears. Top speed for the engine is 900 rpm, which means LOTS of torque.
Good luck with your loader. I've definitely run into cases where the shop manual says to do it one way, but actually you can do it a lot easier some other way. Most recently I had to replace the timing chain guides on a Toyota. The manual says something like "remove the oil pan, remove the cylinder head, then remove the timing cover" (both head and oil pan overlap the timing cover and have to be sealed to it), but it turns out you can just pull the timing cover, work it loose from the head and oil pan, slather it with sticky-pucky when you put it back together and it's fine. Sometimes I think the manual writers just go by how they assembled things in the factory, without thinking about how to do it in the field when you're not building the whole machine from scratch.
