A quick Google search indicates that speedometer lubricant is graphite suspended in a light, non-detergent, oil; O'Reilly's has it. Other lubricants such as white lithium would probably work well, too. I think the idea is to find a lubricant that will not dry out in the cable sheath and cause binding.
I agree with the post below that suggests a dry moly type lubricant. A wet oil will eventually attract dust and cause problems.
