Soap is hygroscopic, meaning it sucks water out of the air. The water leads to rusting, since rust needs hydrogen as well as oxygen. Talc- baby powder , even foot powder ( prevent fungus in your tubes. ;^) )
There are commercial liquid tire lube products, dunno about them being hygroscopic.
Don't use soap on wood screws either. It leads to rust and rot. I like surfboard wax or chapstick for that. Or just a candle stub.
