They are pressed inwards, and only the outer has a threaded hole. Maybe the later models still used it for the wire hook? I suppose a couple thick 1" diameter washers were used on the engine side to spread the stress.

And you pics shows a flat gasket. Now I knw what I'm in for. I'll cut a new one from BUNA rubber that I use for fuel pump diaphragms.
