I'm sure that where there's still a need, we have the capability. I saw one thing where they were turning the huge propeller shafts for ocean going freighters. But, they were using a 100 year old lathe that CNC had been added to.
I'm guessing that any really huge CNC machine would come from Korea or China now.
In England, I saw a 14,000 horse power steam engine that had been used to bend armor plate for the hulls of battle ships. I don't think we'd be able to do those kind of things now if we had to.
And, who knew the Canadians were building big steam locomotives?
