Well, my 68 Utiline with the 318/727 has hedman headers and purple horny glasspacks, and it is ideal for the use that it gets...which is mainly way out in the country and limited miles. Once you get the motor above 2500 rpm is has excellent power combined with the stage 1 intake and holley carb. Not what I would choose for daily city driving, or if I had neighbors it would disturb.
A muffler needs to match the tune of the engine, and the number of cylinders. I suspect your poly with live between 600-2500 rpm, 2" pipes and a turbo style muffler will probably work!
