OT: Rocker paint protection

Hey guys, We have a 2008 GMC we are rolling out of a cushy life with one of our owners and into the vehicle hell that is the crew truck for one of our surveyors. The previous generation of trucks have lasted very well other than the rockers are rotted out from the paint being compromised driving on the sand and gravel roads around here. I have 2 thoughts:

Rhino type bed liner...the softer rubbery kind or the clear film that goes over the paint.

Any other suggestions?
