The 7 1/2 foot bed was wide from 1948 on. Starting in 1959 the 6 1/2 foot short bed became the same width as the 7 1/2 foot, 8 foot, and 9 foot beds. From then on the Utiline beds only used one width gate until the bed was discontinued in 1985.

The truck in question has a 7 1/2 foot bed. It is an early truck with a low serial number.
