I've always felt naked in my Fargo, and got around to installing seat belts in my truck. I bought 2 sets of shoulder belts, and one lap belt set from seatbeltplanet.com.
The passenger side has nice flat sheet metal on the floor to mount to, but the drivers side has a much different contour and didn't allow a nice matched spot to the other side.
I had a bunch of 4x6x3/8 angle so I cut pieces 6 inches long. I drilled a hole in the 6" tab of the angle for the cab mount bolt, and the one end of the belt. On the vertical piece of the angle, the 4" part, I drilled a hole for the retractor.
Since the area to where the cab bolt is quite contoured, I took a piece of 1.5" diameter steel 1.7" long, and drilled a .515" hole through it. This worked perfectly with a 6" long cab bolt.
For the shoulder mounting, I used a piece of 1.25" square tubing 11" long, and welded a piece of 2" channel to it 5" long basically it looked like the letter 'P'. The steel piece supplied by the seat belt company was bolted to the piece of channel. This piece was tapped down into the square, stake like pocket that forms the B pillar of the door. That pocket is tapered top to bottom, and I found that a dimension of 1.187" at the tail end of the tubing, tapered up to the 1.25" dimension over 6 inches fit perfect.
I'll try and get some pictures up as that will make this as clear as mud!!
I'm really excited for this mod, it will feel much better getting a bit more speed, especially once the VPW 4.89's go in.
