The word “restored” is grossly over-used. In most cases, the word “rebuilt” would be more appropriate and less misleading.

The word “restored” conjures up the idea that an old thing has been brought back to a certain former condition. When used in the context of restoring a Power Wagon, the certain condition is generally claimed to be that of a truck fresh off the factory line.

To accomplish “restoring” a truck to original condition, one would have to stay on a strict course...using only parts original to the truck or parts that might have been used at the factory. He needs to be careful not to make the truck better than factory, worse than factory, or different in any way from factory. Not easy.

In most cases, it is more accurate to make the claim that a truck has been “rebuilt”. Rebuilt implies only that the truck has been dismantled, repaired, and reassembled.
